Workaround

Ich hab gestern nochmal mit dem US-Mitarbeiter gechattet und wir haben einen relativ einfachen Workaround gefunden. Man kann natürlich jederzeit eine neue PayPal-Adresse registrieren und mit der frischen Adresse funktioniert dann das Einkaufen.

Er hat mir zusätzlich noch bestätigt, dass das Problem bei PayPal liege und sie bereits den Fehler identifizieren konnten und eine permanenter Fix ist auf dem Weg. Danach sollte es auch mit meiner alten PayPal-Adresse gehen.

Sobald dieser Fix ausgerollt und getestet ist werde ich mich natürlich nochmal melden. PayPal (per telefonischen Support) und eBay haben beide bestätigt, dass dieses Problem eine kleine Anzahl an Nutzern betrifft und dank meinem "Aufschrei" aufgedeckt wurde und für andere jetzt auch gefixed wird.

Yesterday I have chatted with the US-Employee again and we have found a relatively simple workaround. You can of course register a new PayPal address any time and it will work with the new address.

He also confirmed, that the problem lies at PayPal and that they've identified the bug and a permanent fix is already on it's way. After that the old address should work too.

As soon as this fix is rolled out and tested I'll of course write again. Both, PayPal (via phone support) and eBay confirmed, that the bug is affecting a small number of users and it was identified thanks to my "outcry" and it will be fixed for other users as well.

In latest gaming news: Mafia was released on GOG! Yay! That's great news, because it means that you can get the game DRM-free and guaranteed to work with your Win7 or Win10 installation! Nintendo: Hey, listen!

This is a plea for Nintendo, I hope that somebody there will read it. A few days ago you announced the next "Mini" console in your attempt to make even more money of some 25+ year old games, released for the hundredth time. Please. Stop. Or at the very least change your business practices. I hope that I speak for a majority in the gaming community, when I say that we've just about had enough of yet another Nintendo console (or accessory...) which won't be available at launch because you simply can't (or won't?) make enough. We've had enough of the scalpers who pre-order all stock before we even get a chance to look the device up. Enough of the scalpers who then continue to sell those consoles on eBay for double or triple the price. Isn't it bad for your business? Let's talk about a hypothetical scenario: you could sell 1 million of the SNES Mini. But you produce only 500k. That makes 500k of your potential fans/customers angry, because...
